Student Program Gives Snacks to Less Fortunate Students from Brayton Elementary School went shopping at Price Chopper for snacks for their Healthy Snack Pantry project. Students became aware that some students are not able to bring a snack to school and they wanted to help. They decided to be part of a service learning project where they buy, organize and deliver healthy snacks to students who do not have one. "Many kids don't have snacks and they either have to try and share a snack with a friend, the teacher gives them one, or they go hungry until lunch," said fourth-grade student Morgan DeGrenier. "This was something that we knew we could change with a little bit of selflessness," said Emilee Shupe, fourth-grade student. The Healthy Snack Pantry opened this week. The students said they were excited to get the project off the ground and see the happy expressions on their friend's faces when they are given something healthy and good to eat. |
